Fun with Pictures

Yesterday I was reading Megans blog and she was talking about IPhone apps. She listed a few photography apps, so I decided to try them out. I downloaded Polarize and ShakeIt. I already had IpicEd on my phone. I spent post of the day playing around with my pictures. I think I will download Hipstamatic next. Its so fun to be able to edit pictures right there on your phone. Here is what I came up with yesterday. :)

These were all using Polarize which I love because you can add a caption to the picture. So fun :)

Birthday Celebration

This past weekend was the hubs' birthday and we had a wonderful weekend of birthday celebrations. I was on call Saturday and Sunday and spent all day Saturday at the hospital. My poor hubby had to spend his birthday alone at home. I felt terrible about it but we were able to celebrate with friends on Friday night. We went to our favorite place Hole In One with a few of our friends from church and other friends. We had a fun night. We enjoyed good food, wine and dessert. Todd and I split the bread pudding and it was so delicious. They have the best bread pudding. Then all the girls got Cosmos thanks to Ellen who had a card in her wallet with her favorite recipe. “Sex and the City much” haha. It was such a fun night and just what we needed to kick off the weekend.

Saturday night Todd requested that his Mom make steaks for dinner for his family birthday celebration. We had steaks, potatoes, salad and pound cake for dessert. Todd is not a big cake person but he LOVES pound cake. It is his favorite and I believe my mother in law has perfected her pound cake. It was the best one yet. It was so yummy. We enjoyed celebrating with our family that night. Anna was so excited to get to give Uncle Todd and his presents and he let her blow out his candles. :) I didn’t have my camera on me so I didn’t get any pictures. I am so mad at myself for not taking any pictures. It was a fun family night. Todd had a wonderful birthday weekend and I am so thankful for such a wonderful husband. I am truly blessed! I could not have asked for a better husband and I am so glad we were able to celebrate another birthday together.

A little bit of this and that

WOW! Life has been somewhat hectic lately. It seems as though the weeks are just flying by. I can’t believe it is already October and will be Christmas before we know it. I was finally able to get out some of my fall decor this past week. It all looks so cute but I haven’t finished yet. I still need to decorate my dining room table. My new favorite thing is my monogrammed pumpkin of course that I posted about earlier. I am loving this fall weather. It has been getting down into the 40s and night and it is wonderful. I just want to stay outside all day. AHHH I love fall weather. It makes me one happy girl. :)  So what I have been up to lately. Hmmm lets see…… 

I spent a weekend in Houston, bridesmaid shopping for my brothers upcoming wedding and then went to dinner with an old friend. Oh I also enjoyed the Houston Wine Festival with my future SIL and her friend. We had a blast. There were wines there from all over and lots of cute gifts too.  It was so much fun getting to catch up with  my old friend since I had not seen her in about 2 years. We ended up closing down the Sushi place. We had lots to catch up on and gossip about. :)

I have some exciting news to share. My brother got a job offer in Washington DC and he accepted yesterday! I am so excited for him and Kate. I think this is a wonderful opportunity that God has placed in their lap. Yes I will miss them not being so close but I think it is the best decision for them and their future. He called me this morning to tell me the good news. Plus it will be great to be able to visit them there. :) There are so many cool places around the East Coast.

My other exciting news is that I am officially a Stella & Dot stylist. I am so excited about this new opportunity to bring in a little extra income. I love it already and am working hard to do all the training and start booking trunk shows.I hosted my first show at my house and had lots of fun with my girlfriends shopping for jewelry.  Its just a fun side hobby. What girl doesn’t love jewelry right? I love all of their jewelry and there is a big price range so it fits any budget. Plus it will be a great way to step out of my comfort zone and get out there and meet more people all while having fun. You can always order online and check out my website below.

Dinner With Friends

Last Thursday one of my college friends came into town for the weekend. I had not seen her in at least a year so it was so good to catch up. I miss not having all of my college friends close. Sometimes I just wish I could back to college and do it all over again. I wouldn’t change a think I would just repeat it all and have just as much fun.

Anyways I headed to Nacogdoches Thursday night for dinner and wine. We had dinner at her sisters house. Her sister is in culinary school right now and she cooked us a gourmet salad and meal. I forget what she called the pasta dish. I think it was something like Creamy Champagne Pasta with Shrimp. Okay that is not exact but close enough and it was SOOOO YUMMY!! They have just finished updating their house and it was GORGEOUS!! Everything is so cute, I just loved it.

We enjoyed lots of girl time. Before I knew it was 11 o’clock and I had to be at work at 7 the next morning. Oops. Time just flew by as we were catching up and reminiscing.  

It was such a fun Thursday night. It was a great way to start off my weekend.

Annapolis Vacation

My bags were packed and I was headed to BWI last Wednesday. I was off to see my bestie Tracy and spend the week/weekend with her precious family in Annapolis, MD. It was a wonderful 5 days but of course it went by way too fast. Isn’t that how vacation always goes? You look forward to it for months and then it just flies right by. It is like you blink and it is over and you are headed on a plane back home. So not fair right?

I had a wonderful time and I was spoiled big time!! I enjoyed lots of cuddling time with her sweet baby boy and lots of girl time with Tracy. :) I couldn’t have asked for a better time.

On Thursday we headed over to DC and spent the day there. I had never been so I was super pumped about going. We walked ALOT and saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, and of course the White House. I waved to Obama as we drove by. ;) When we first parked our car and got out we were able to see the presidents motorcade go by. That was pretty cool to see.

Four scores and seven years ago…

After doing lots of walking and sightseeing we headed to the Georgetown area to meet up with NCF and her 2 precious boys.

 

 

We at lunch at a great pizzeria and enjoyed getting to know each other. She is such a sweet person and her boys are just the cutest. They are so well mannered. I could have easily taken them home with me. :) I hope we get to see each other soon NCF!! After lunch we walked around and shopped for a bit and then headed to Georgetown Cupcakes AKA DC Cupcakes if you watch the show on TLC. Let me just tell you that it did not disappoint. I got the key lime cupcake and it melted in my mouth. It was so good. I scarfed it down in about 1 minute, no lie. :) We then had to say our goodbyes to NCF and her boys and we headed back to Annapolis for our boat cruise.

We went on a sailboat cruise on the Chesapeake Bay. It was a beautiful evening and so much fun. I had never been on a sailboat before so this was a big treat. It is the same sailboat that was in the movie Wedding Crashers. It was quite chilly but we enjoyed the sail

Friday we hung out in our pjs all day and finished making stuff for the birthday party. It was a relaxing day and just what we needed before the big party on Saturday. We made tons of pom poms for the party and I am now an expert on making poms. haha. But I really don’t want to see a pom for a long time. LOL.

Saturday was the big party and Jack had a great first birthday.  I am so glad I was able to be there for his special day. It was a wonderful party and Tracy did a great job with everything. I am so blessed to know her sweet family.

Overall I had a GREAT time and I did not want to come back to the Texas heat. The weather was gorgeous while I was there. I did miss my hubby and puppy badly though. Its always bittersweet to leave.
