Weekend with Mama Kat

This past weekend Mama Kat AKA my mom came up and spent the weekend with Todd and I. Todd has called my mom Mama Kat ever since we started dating. Its too funny to me and my mom swears her grandkids will wind up calling her that. I’m totally against it but at the same time its HILARIOUS!! She is such a MAMA KAT. haha. :) (her name is Kathy) We enjoyed the weekend eating out, gossiping, pedicures, and shopping. You know, the things us girls do best. I always love when my mom comes up for a visit and we always have a great time. This time she brought a little friend with her. She brought her dog Pepper. Poor Pepper is like an old hag and wanted nothing to do with Bentley and Bentley would not leave her alone. It was so funny. Pepper is old and just wants to lay around and not play and it was like my dog was being the bully. haha. Poor Bentley just wanted a play mate and that was not happening.

I found a new favorite fall nail polish. Oh I love it!! Its a great fall color. I think it will be my go to polish this fall. I usually like to do a dark burgundy or red on my toes for the fall/winter. This is the perfect mauve color. It just screams autumn to me.

Speaking of fall who else is ready for the cooler weather. Oh me, I am so tired of this hot and humid weather. Its miserable. I love summer and am such a summer girl but I can officially say I AM READY FOR FALL!! I’m ready for fall clothes, sweaters, boots, pumpkin lattes, fall candles, and maybe even a little football.

My mom and I hit up Belk this weekend and they had some great fall clothes. I got a cute cardigan and cami. I also found the cutest leopard flats for $9.75. Yes you read that right. They were originally 40 bucks. I always love it when I find a deal like that. I can’t wait to sport them.

Friday Ramblings

I have lots of things going through my mind today, so I thought I would just do a rambling post about a whole lot of nothing. :) Don't you just love my random thoughts.

1. I noticed I have quite a few new followers. HI!!! :) This makes me happy and welcometo my little ol blog. I am delighted that you have decidedd to follow my little journey and hope you enjoy reading my blog. Leave a comment and say hi or you can always email me. My email is in the side bar.

2. We have a new cute little boutique in Lufkin called The Spotted Zebra. I am in love with all of their clothes. They have the cutest stuff and I am so excited. I found a dress there over the weekend that I just loved and my MIL came over yesterday and had gotten it for me. I recently made her a banner and wreath for her classroom and this was her thank you.

What do you think? Isn't it so cute. I think it will be great to wear to a fall wedding.

3. The other night I was at my inlaws for dinner and we skyped with my niece. It was so much fun and now Im trying to convince to get me a web cam and get me set up. I want skype so bad now, then I can chat with all of my lovely friends. It is so cool!! Do people even use the word cool anymore? haha....I couldn't come up with anything better.

4. Do you ever have one of those days where you just need to let a good cry? Yeah that was me yesterday. I don't know what was wrong with me but I was not in a good mood yesterday and I really needed a good cry. UGH! I hate feeling like that. I wanted to go back to bed and start all over again.

6. Its official, I am headed to see one of my BFFS/first bloggy friend/IRL Tracy in 1 1/2 weeks. I am so super excited!! I am headed up to Annapolis Maryland and she has lots of fun things planned for us. Its also her little boys FIRST birthday party and I am so excited I will be there to help her family celebrate. The last time I saw her little boy he was only 5 weeks old. Time flies!!

7. My mom is coming up to spend the weekend with me. She hasn't been up here in a while so I am excited for a nice long visit with her. Its just what I need right now after this extremely LONG week.8. Is it just me or does it seem like EVERYONE is pregnant or about to have a baby. Everytime I turn around somebody else I know is pregnant. I am beyond excited for all my friends, but I can't help but feel like when will it be my turn. No we aren't trying but I have always wanted to be a Mother my whole life and I just can't wait until God blesses us with children. That part excites me sooooooo much!!

9. I am loving reality tv right now including the awful Bachelor Pad and Big Brother. I know how bad the Bachelor Pad is but I can't turn away. Its like the hightlight of my week. haha. I know I'm crazy right. I have watched every season of Big Brother and this season is my LEAST favorite. I still watch every episode but I just don't like the people as much. I do like Layne and I hope he makes it to the final 2.

10. Check out the most recent wreath I made. I think this is my favorite one yet. I am still working on banners and cupcake toppers too. Don't forget to email you if you would like me to make a banner or anything else for your party. I am always getting new stuff in.

The Main Event

Last Thursday evening The Main Event Party Rentals (our business) hosted a business after 5 with the Chamber of Commerce. This is our third time having one and it was a great success. It’s  basically to get local businesses into the showroom and let them know what The Main Event has to offer. Each month a different business hosts one. We serve appetizers and drinks and just enjoy visiting with others. Its  a fun social event and great publicity for our business. I am so proud of my husband for working so hard and making The Main Event such a success. We recently moved locations to downtown Lufkin and it has turned out to be a wonderful move.  I was sad at first to be leaving the other showroom but God has shown us this has been a wonderful move. Business is booming!! We are so blessed. I just wanted to share a few pictures so y’all could see what a great job my hubby and the girls did.  We had Jackie Ray come and take pictures. She is so talented and I think all the pictures turned out GREAT!! These pictures will be added to the website soon.

Birthday Party and More….

Saturday evening Todd and I headed to his cousins little girls 2nd birthday party. The theme was barnyard and it was so cute. Sarah did such a great job decorating. The kids enjoyed hunting for eggs, a piñata, horse riding, and a hay ride. They had a blast.

  After the party Todd and I took Anna home with us because my SIL had another party to go to. Anna LOVED Bentley. She sat with him on the couch and fed him a snack. It was the cutest thing. I took a few pictures and here is a video.

How cute is she!!! After she got tired of playing with Bentley we snuggled on the couch watching Yo Gabba Gabba. Oh how I just love all the sweet moments with her. :)

I was on call this weekend so I am off of work today which has been nice. I always enjoy my Mondays off. Today has been a full day of cleaning house and running errands. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Visit with Friends

This week one of my sorority sisters had her precious baby boy! I am so thankful that she lives close so that I was able to go meet Mr. Hunter. He is absolutely perfect and Lauren is doing great. Two of my sorority sisters headed to town to come see her and so I headed up to Nac to make it a mini reunion. It was so great getting to see 4 of my closest college friends and Laurens new addition. After we visited the 4 of us headed to one of our favorite mexican places from back in the day Casa Tomas. It did not disappoint. Lets just say in college I ate there just about every Monday because it was enchilada night!! They have THE BEST cheese enchiladas. We enjoyed good food, margaritas and great girl time. There were lots of laughs. I always have such a great time when I hang out with these girls. Its always so wonderful to have good girlfriends that no matter how much time passes, when your together its like you just saw each other yesterday. It was a great start to my week. I think girlfriend time is good for the soul. There is nothing like talking about the college days and laughing so loud that we pretty much emptied out the resturant. It was wonderful and I hope to hang out with Kelly, Kiley and Karley again soon.

Staying Busy

What has been keeping me so busy? Why haven’t I blogged in a week? Well first up not much has been going on lately. Just work and life. Exciting right? LOL.

Ever since I posted pictures of my niece’s birthday and posted about making banners it seems everyone wants a banner. This gets me so excited!! What started out has a little hobby is starting to become my little side job and I am loving every minute of it. I don’t consider myself that creative but give me an idea and I can run with it. I am so lucky that that my sweet hubby has set me up a craft room in our house. I am able to work on my crafts without worrying about having to clean it up and put it away. I am enjoying coming with new ideas and making different banners, wreaths and even cupcake toppers. I am staying pretty busy lately. Me and my cricut machine have been spending LOTS of time together!! Don’t forget that if you want a banner for a birthday party or shower to let me know. I can customize it anyway you want it.

I just recently made a wreath for one of my friends for her classroom. Her theme is “Wild about Kindergarten” and she has decorated her room in lots of giraffe stuff. She asked me to make her a wreath to hang on her door and it turned out super cute. I can customize the wreath with whatever color you like. As you can see I have been pretty busy with craft projects, so blogging has been on the back burner. I am so behind but I will catch up. I still need to post pics from Comedy night and pictures from Todd and I waterskiing a couple of weekends ago.

I finished reading The Help and LOVED IT!!! It was a great book and I loved the ending. I hear they are making a movie about it and I can’t wait to see who they cast. I hope the movie is just as good as the book although I won’t hold my breath. Most of the time movies are never as good as the books.
