A Shopping Weekend

This past weekend I headed
down to Dayton to spend the weekend with my mom. I had tons of Christmas shopping to get done and well lets face it Lufkin doesn't have the greatest shopping in the world. Friday night I drove to my moms and stayed at the house by myself. She was in Houston at her work Christmas party, so it was just me and the dogs. I enjoyed my quiet evening by myself. It's nice to have those quiet evenings alone every now and then especially during this busy holiday season.

I woke up early Saturday morning and we shopped till we dropped. We literally shopped all day and I got almost all of my shopping done. I still have a few more things to pick up but overall I'm pretty much done.
On Sunday I surprised my mom with tickets to go see The Nutcracker. It was an early Christmas present. We used to always go when I was young, so I was excited to go. It always puts me in the Christmas spirit!!

Tonight Todd and I are headed to Dayton for my dads ordination. He is getting ordained as a priest in the episcopal church. This is a huge accomplishment and I am so proud of him. God has truly worked miracles. It has been a long journey and he has finally made it. It's such an exciting time for our family especially during this holiday season. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Christmas Home Tour 2010

Well I finally had time to take some pictures of all of our Christmas decorations. We Todd started decorating our house in mid November. We were going to be gone for almost 2 weeks in a row at the end of November beginning of December so we knew we had to get started early. It takes him about 2 weeks or longer to decorate the house. I keep saying him because….well because he does it ALL!! Yes I know I am a very lucky girl. My hubby LOVES Christmas. Its his favorite time of the year, so I just let him have it. This year we have 4 trees up. Crazy I know but now there is one in every room! The only tree I decorate is my black and white Christmas tree. Its my girlie tree and I just love it. I still need to buy a few more ornaments though. We like to pack our trees down with ornaments where you can barely see green. Yes we are CRAZY CHRISTMAS people. Every room in our house has a little Christmas in it and that’s just the way I like it. So, without further ado. Welcome to our home. Sit back relax and enjoy the tour : )

And last but not least our 4th tree in out bedroom. I love having a little Christmas tree in our bedroom. This is the first time we have put this tree up.

Santa came early

Santa came a little early this year.........

Todd and I have been talking about getting new living room furniture.....well.....for.....forever ago. We have been wanting to update out look for a while now. We (aka Todd) found the perfect couch at a local furniture store here. Every piece of furniture we have purchased for our house has been purchased from Castleberry's Furniture. We love going in there and looking around, and not to mention we are good friends with the owners. They go to church with us. :) So we finally found the perfect couch, that was the easy part. The hard part was trying to pick 2 chairs that we actually agreed on. I wanted something fun and unexpected and Todd wanted something a little contemporary but really more on the traditional side. We found a set of chairs we really liked and then came the hard part. Picking the fabric, you can pick any fabric you want. Talk about trying to make a decision. UGH!! We came across a leopard/cheetah print fabric and I knew that was it. I had my mind set. The hard part was trying to convince Todd it would look good.

So who do you think won? I should say in nicer terms Todd agreed the leopard chairs would look great. :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US!!

What do you think? We LOVE it and we are so glad that our living room is finally coming together and it looks updated and fun and youthful!! We are still in debates about getting another couch where the 2 occasional chairs are (the leather ones) because we had 2 couches in the room before and that is where Todd laid down every night to watch television. Right now we are happy with the set up but we may eventually be getting another couch. Next we need a rug to finish off the room and it will be complete. I just love redecorating a room and getting new furniture, don't you?

Up next on the decorating front is our bedroom. We are thinking about painting it for the....umm...well 3rd time. haha. Yes we like to change our bedroom color A LOT!! We are also thinking of getting this bedding. I love the earth tones and am really loving grey right now. We want to paint the room a greenish/grayish color. Its very soothing.

PS: We had a wonderful ski trip to Breckenridge and I will do a post about that soon. Expect lots of pictures :)

Lets Play Catch Up

Whew! Things have been such a whirlwind lately. Do you ever stand there and just feel like you are frozen in time but life is just passing you by, quickly I might add. I have felt like this a lot lately. I feel like I am in standing still and everything else is just moving along way to fast. I just want to yell out SLOW DOWN!! Thanksgiving is next week and then Christmas soon after. How can this year already be almost over? It just felt like summer yesterday. Fall always seems to be such a busy time, heck what part of the year isn't a busy time. So lets see I keep this little ol blog just to journal our life and I haven't done a very good job the past couple of weeks.

On October 29 heaven gained a beautiful angel. My grandmother went to be with the Lord. This has been so hard on our family, we are slowly but surely recovering. Thanksgiving I know will be hard for all of us. Its just so hard to have someone there one day and gone the next. I find peace in knowing that now she is my guardian angel watching over me. The first week back home was hard but my heart is starting not to ache any more. We left that Friday morning to head to Alabama and then we were back home on Sunday. Talk about a whirlwind weekend. It was great to see all of my family too. Its sad that it takes a funeral to bring the family together but under whatever circumstances I am so glad we were all together. There is nothing like family!!

Since then Todd has been busy at The Main Event and getting the new downtown venue ready. They had their first wedding reception at Abrams and it was BEAUTIFUL!! I can't believe how the building turned out, it truly looks amazing. We were glad to be able to go to the wedding and reception. Everything was so nice.

This past week Todd was sick and this passed his illness on to me so I spent Thursday in bed all day and finally started feeling better Friday. We spent the weekend buying Christmas decorations and putting up one of our Christmas trees. We decided to put a Christmas tree in our dining room this year and I have to say its my favorite tree. I love the color scheme and the way it turned out. Its "DRAMA" as Todd would say :) Pictures to come, Christmas is a whole other post.

We have also been spending lots of time with our precious niece. We are just loving this age. She is so funny and has the best personality. She loves her Uncle Todd and Aunt KK!!

I have also been keeping busy with Stella & Dot. I am loving my side hobby. Its so much fun and I am really loving getting new jewelry in. Oh yah and I got my hair cut. I just needed a change. I loved my hair long and its still semi long. I only cut a few inches off but it grows so fast you won't be able to tell in a few weeks. I love it, its just what I needed :)
