Proverbs 3

I was on call this past weekend, but Todd and I were able to go to Sunday School and church. I got called out right when church was starting but I was glad to be able to make it to Sunday school. I am so glad I did because what a powerful message Randy gave. I love going to his Sunday school class, he really gets you thinking. He talked a little about Proverbs 3 verse 5-6. I was astonished at how bad I needed to hear that scripture. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. " What a powerful scripture, sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life we forget about putting all our trust in God and no matter what he will direct us, for he is The Way, The Truth, and The Life! It brought me back to no matter what happens God is in control and he has plans for us. We need to let him direct our path and follow his way for his way is the only way to Eternal Life!! I really needed to hear that yesterday and am so glad that I was able to go to church. God really does work in mysterious ways. Okay enough of my preaching here a few more pictures of our fall decor Todd and I have been working on. Oh yeah and our new couch was delivered today, I love it!!

The awesome garland my husband did.

I love this Halloween nutcracker my mom gave to Todd one year for his birthday.

Struggling....

Just a quick blog to jot down some of my thoughts lately. Several people at work have been asking me if I have been okay. I guess I truly show my feelings on the outside. There is no hiding how I feel no matter how hard I try. I have been struggling lately with my job. I feel like I have worked so hard for my degree and to get where I am today, but I just don't get the feeling of satisfaction with my job. When my friend Lori came up last weekend, she really opened up my eyes. She really got me thinking. We were talking about jobs and she was asking if I still liked it and everything and I just felt like "well its work, if that's what you mean." She started talking about how she loves what she does and she loves getting up in the morning and going to work. Okay, I WANT THAT FEELING!! Now I know we aren't going to love our job every single day, but we should not dread it either. I should get some kind of joy for taking care of people and I want it to feel rewarding again. When I worked on the Stepdown unit I realize now that it was very rewarding but the stress was so overwelming that I needed a change desperately. Thats why I decided to come down to the Recovery Room. Its definately not as much stress but it is not as rewarding, so I think which one would I rather have?? I get up in the morning and dread going to work, but I am not a morning person either. I always felt like I would love my job, I felt like it was my calling. I still feel that way in the fact that I do think its my calling, that God really called me to take care of people. Not everyone can be a nurse and take care of sick people. I have always been that person that wants to take care of everyone and will go out of my way to help people. Don't get me wrong I do love being a nurse and couldn't imagine doing anything else, but I just don't get the satisfaction that I feel I should get from my job. I have really been struggling with this lately and am asking God to direct me. There are some great things about my job like the hours and having most holidays off and weekends off. I only take call about once a month and have a pretty easy job with not too much stress. Lately I just haven't been happy there and I don't know what it is. Like I said earlier, people are starting to notice but I am going to try to put on a happy face and smile. One thing I have always wanted to do since I wanted to be a nurse is work in Labor/Delivery or the nursery. I really think I would love it up there, something new everyday and what a joy to be a part of a new life coming into this world. I think that would be very rewarding!! Unfortunately there are no day positions available in that area at the hospital I work at. For now, I guess I will just keep praying and thinking about what I really want to do. I mean is the schedule really worth it if you don't love what your doing. There are just so many questions and thoughts. Sorry if this blog is kind of jumbled I just needed to write out my thoughts today to try and clear my mind. Please keep me in your prayers as I try to find joy in my job.

Daily Visits with Anna

She is starting to get a little personality.

Isn't she the cutest baby you have ever seen?

This past week Chris, Malee and Anna have been staying at my in-laws while waiting for their electricity to come back on. They live in Humble so we knew it would be a while. Everyday when I get off work I stop by to see Miss Anna. I have thoroughly enjoyed my daily visits. I definitely think they should move to Lufkin. Anna grows so much and so fast, I just want her to stay a baby forever. I have loved getting to see her everyday and hold her, rock her, play with her, and even change her stinky diapers. Last night Chris and Malee's neighbor called to say their power was back on. Sharon and I immediately were upset. We have gotten so use to seeing them everyday but we knew eventually they were going to have to head home. We were just secretly hoping maybe their electricity would be out for a little bit longer ; )
Todd Loves Anna

This weekend one of my good friends from elementary came up and spent the weekend. Lori and I have known each other forever and have been trying to get together for a while now. She was finally able to come up and visit. On Friday I had to work late so when I got home Me, Todd and Lori headed over to Hole in One for a gourmet dinner. It's my favorite place to eat in Lufkin, nothing compares. On Saturday Lori and I got up and headed to McDonalds to get a sausage mcmuffin (my new guilty pleasure). They are the best things ever. It's two pancakes with the syrup already in it with a sausage patty in the middle. YUMMO!! We then headed to get a pedi. Our feet were looking good : ) My parents also came up on Saturday to see the new kitchen so all of us headed to lunch at Cheddars. That night we decided we needed Mexican food so we headed to El Chico. It was so great to catch up with Lori and just do girl things. Oh yeah and of course we shopped on Saturday. We had a nice, relaxing girls weekend.
I am really into decorating for fall this year. I have never been much of a fall decorator but I have been seeing so many cute things in magazines and such that I have been inspired. Hobby Lobby is having a great sale on all their fall decor. I still have a few more things to purchase but I'm trying to purchase so much at once. Our Front Door

Our entry way

I love this arrangement I found at Hobby Lobby

My dining room table decor that I thought of all on my own.

I couldn't resist putting up these 2 more pictures of Miss Anna.

We Survived Hurricane Ike

Hey everyone, just a quick noted to say yes we did survive the hurricane. We were very fortunate to just have minor damage. It was one of the scariest things I have been through. We had a tornado hit our neighborhood. Several trees are down and power lines. We got electricity last night as soon as Todd was hooking up the generator. Our hearts go out to those in Galveston, Houston, and Clear Lake. I will say there is one good thing that came out of the hurricane. I am loving getting to spend all this time with my precious, beautfiul niece Anna. She is starting to smile and coo and it is the cutest thing ever. I love her so much. She has brought so much joy to mine and Todd's life. Here are a few pics from our huge tree that uprooted in our back yard.

Change of Plans

This weekend Todd, Me, Callie, Mark, Caroline, and Gran(the nanny) were all headed to Dallas for Dallas Market. We were so excited about having a mini vacation away. We were going to shop on Friday, Market on Saturday and then come home Sunday. Callie and I made the executive decision that we should not be traveling because of Hurricane Ike. Im so mad at you Ike, thanks for ruining our weekend!! I will be so glad when hurricane season is over. So instead the 4 of us are going to eat at Hole in One Friday night. The nanny has already been booked for Caroline. Thanks Gran for letting Mark and Callie have an adult night with us. Its no Dallas, but I guess it will do for now. The other bad thing is that the Home Market is not again until January so we will have to wait until after Christmas. Instead of packing to go to Dallas, we are heading to Lowe's and Brookshires for water and batteries. Here is what we have to look forward to this weekend.

Just another Manic Monday

This past weekend I was on call for recovery room. It was by far the worst call weekend I have ever had. It wasn't that my pts were bad, it was just super busy. I worked 18 hrs on Saturday and 11 hrs on Sunday. When Monday came, I was definitely exhausted. My plan was to just lay around and sleep in on Monday and do a little house cleaning and some laundry. Well none of that got done because I had to head to Dayton to deliver some dishes to my mom. She is having a dinner party on Saturday night and needed some china. It just so happens that The Main Event just got their china in. My Nana was in town as well so I was super glad to get to spend time with her. I am so blessed to have her in my life. She is such a wonderful person and I love to hear all of her stories. She was telling me how she has lived such a good life and how she was so blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren. After I visited with her for a bit, I headed over to Humble to shop. I just couldn't resist Home Goods and TJ Maxx. I found 2 pictures for Todd's new office and a few other things. I could spend all day in those stores. They have such good deals. After I left the store, I headed over to see my precious niece Anna. I just can't seem to see and hold her enough. She is getting so big and starting to get a little personality. I left there and headed to Houston to have dinner with my brother. I had no idea he could cook so good. He made a mean grilled chicken with sauteed onions and mushrooms, veggies, and mashed potatoes. It was delicious!! I got home about 10 last night and was exhausted. So much for resting and laying around on Monday.

Addicted to Books and TV

Allright guys I am officially addicted to buying books. I must have 10 books now that I have not even read but I cannot help myself. I use to be addicted to buying clothes and such my now my favorite thing is to buy a good book. I love reading and have always loved reading even as a little kid. I also belong to a book club where you get a book once a month, free shipping, and every book is $9.95. What a great deal huh? Me and my mother in law have been trading books. I read a good book and pass it on and she reads one and passes it on to me. Heres what I have been reading lately....
The current book I am reading

Books I have recently read

Did anyone watch Gossip Girl or the new 90210. Oh my goodness definately going to be my 2 favorite shows this year. I am loving gossip girl and how everyone is involved in all these secrets. What can I say I love drama, just not in my own life. Being a huge fan of the old 90210 I was so excited for the new season. I own the series on dvd and have seen every episode at least 3 to 4 times. I have to say that I was quite impressed with the new season. It is interesting how they are tying in the characters to the old characters. Next week Kelly's (jennie Garth) mom is on the show. On the new season Kelly also has a kid...could it be Dylan's or Brandon's?? I so hope it is one of the two. Remember Kelly's sister Erin, she is now a teenager and plays on the show. I can't wait for next week episode and see where they go with this new 90210. Stay tuned!!
